Section 1: Your Unique Potential is A Responsibility with a Divine Cost

Remember, as said by Dr. Myles Munroe, “Knowledge of ability is the introduction of responsibility.”  (Munroe, Releasing Your Potential, 1992, p. 31) Ability is placed on the inside of each of us, but it  must be cultivated, with an attitude of responsibility to release potential. 

Potential is ability, and the greatest need of ability is responsibility. All humans come to this world with infinite potential. But infinite potential is useless unless we unlock it. Each person, like a computer, has tremendous capacity to compute, analyze, assimilate, compare, and produce. But this ability is useless, and dormant, until it is programmed and demands are made on it. Yet, unlike the computer, you are not waiting for a programmer to program you. Instead, your Creator and programmer equipped you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. As a result of this, you are responsible for the time you spend on this planet. 

Life, with all the trials and challenges that come from living it, is what makes demands on your potential. Without these demands your potential would lie dormant. Most people respond to life creatively and innovatively only when circumstances demand that response. A vivid illustration of this truth is that many technological, medical, and social breakthroughs have been achieved because problems or circumstances demanded a response. The release of your potential demands that you accept the responsibility to work, because the greatest need of ability is responsibility. 

You will never know the extent of your potential until you give it something to do. Responsibility and ability are reciprocal. The greatest need of ability is responsibility, and when the Creator gives you a responsibility, likewise, you receive the ability to meet that responsibility. (Munroe, Releasing Your Potential)

While the Creator gives each individual the ability to meet their personal responsibility and fulfill their purpose and potential, the ability that is afforded to each individual is different. The Creator places this ability on the inside of us and it is manifested and communicated to the world around us in various ways, like our personality, our skills, our talents, and our inherent passions. One way that we unlock our potential is to reflect on each of these various areas on the inside of us. Each of these are ways that God equips and enables us to realize and maximize our unique potential.
