Section 2:

Your personality is a compass pointing to your purpose; embrace it to navigate your assignments. True fulfillment comes when you act in harmony with your unique design.

Your personality is a provision for your purpose. Your personality is also a guidepost for where your gifts may be hidden. While there are parts of your personality that could, and maybe should, be transformed by personal development, most of your personality is a result of your function and purpose. These indomitable aspects of your personality are a part of what makes you unique, and they also serve as a compass for what you can do.

If your natural function is to be introverted (a person prefers to gain energy or recharges alone) and you make the plan to “become more outgoing or extroverted (a person who gains energy or recharges by being in the company of others), then you run the risk of extreme burn-out which can lead to brain fog or even illness. This decision to go against your function, which is determined by purpose, then costs you.

Remember, your purpose should not cost you anything, recall from the last unit that the only “costs” that should surface in the pursuit of purpose are investments. If it is not an investment and it is costing you, it is not a part of your purpose.

Therefore, it is extremely helpful to use tools that help us to understand and recognize parts of ourselves and function. This is not to say that your purpose is limited to tools like the MBTI or that these tools alone reveal your purpose. Yet, by using a tool like  your MBTI results, you can begin the journey to understanding your preferences across four central areas and how the intersection of these factors influence how you show up in the world.

While personality tests are not perfect and are flawed, if used with wisdom they can get you one step closer to understanding why you show up the way you do. This can help you begin to identify your purpose. A helpful way to understand the intersection of your MBTI and your purpose is that your MBTI can lead you on a journey to understanding how you are equipped for your Creator’s assignments for your life. It gives you insights into the provisions the Creator has made for you, where the Creator would like to use you and bless you in  personal areas that may first appear as a weakness but are truly a blessing.
