Section 3: Promises are Purposeful Provisions
The Creator’s promises are a warranty for your purpose; they are unchanging and ever-reliable. Trust in these promises anchors your actions in truth, not temporary feelings.
So far throughout these modules we have learned:
That just as the apple tree does not eat apples, our purpose is not for us (our purpose is for those we have come to serve with our unique solution)
That our purpose is not about us. It’s not our individual strength or character that is the source of our purpose. Instead our creator is our source, and our purpose merely manifests through us.
Therefore, it is important to always remember that our purpose is not for us or about us, it simply travels through us and is proven and protected by the promises of our Creator.
One promise that is essential to discovering your purpose is:
“For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
This promise is undoubtedly true, because the Creator’s promises to us are based on the credibility and stability of the Creator, not the fallibility and inconsistencies of mankind. This promise is a truth that you can cash in at any point in your life, because your Manufacturer will never go out of business.
Your Manufacturer will keep every promise forever, and these promises cannot fail because Divine purpose always prevails. The Manufacturer’s promises are made to maintain, sustain, and produce divine purposes in our lives for humanity.
Always remember, the Creator’s promises are more powerful than your plans. You do not need to help your Manufacturer to meet obligations. You do not need to attempt to take matters into our own hands, and fabricate plans which erroneously try to disguise as purpose.
Your plans do not, and cannot, change the Creator’s purpose. Your Manufacturer will stick with His warranty, even if you come up with an erroneous plan that you think looks nice or makes sense. Yet, the warranty requires that you surrender your plans for your Manufacturer’s purpose.
Therefore, the protection, security, credibility, and true value of a product are not based on how much it costs you, but the stability and structure of the manufacturer, your Manufacturer. Thus, the most important thing is the promise, because the most powerful and reliable thing is the Promiser.
You have a warranty that can withstand any trial and that is the promise of your Creator as demonstrated through divine purpose. This warranty can also exceed any obstacle or deficiency you may feel is in your way.
Honestly, it can be hard to accept the Creator’s promises about ourselves. There are many times where your feelings may contradict the promise. However, it is important to accept this truth, that feelings are temporary but promises prevail. Therefore, while your feelings may be valid at the moment, they are not necessarily true.
Having these moments of doubt does not mean that you will not ever fulfill your purpose. Rather, these feelings are a part of the human condition, given that you are trapped in a body with many limitations. But, the truth is, you are also a spirit created in the image and likeness of your Creator, and you can do all things! The goal is to put your day-to-day trust in your Manufacturer’s promises and not your feelings.
Every time the Creator introduced someone to themselves in the scriptures, they did not initially believe the revelation of themselves. Consider Moses, for example. Yet, once they began to act according to their design, no matter how begrudgingly (consider Moses and public speaking) the promises came to life. In addition to acting according to your design, you must also speak according to your design.
Recall Module 1: Unit 2 when you learned about the power of “I am” statements, you must declare the Creator’s promises about you in “I am” phrases. This also brings the promises on your life and your purpose to light.
