Section 4: How to Believe the Truth about You

Self-acceptance is not just about loving your strengths but embracing your perceived flaws as part of your divine design. Every trait, trial, and triumph contributes to the fulfillment of your unique purpose.

Each one of us was fearfully and wonderfully made by Our Creator (Psalm 139). We were crafted and coded with a unique purpose and given unique gifts and skills which feed and fuel this purpose. Therefore, an essential element for fulfilling your purpose requires that you embrace your individuality. Believing the truth about ourselves, is about having an attitude of acceptance. While it is much easier to accept the favorite parts of ourselves, it is also important (arguably crucial) to accept our least favorite parts.

In each Module and Unit so far, we have explored tools, and frameworks, and reflected on hopes and dreams that make you unique and special. You may be deeply encouraged about your purpose and feel proud of many of these findings. Yet, there may be some parts of your being that you feel less proud of and unconvinced that these aspects of yourself can coexist with your divine purpose.

It's often simpler to embrace the aspects of ourselves that we admire, however acknowledging and accepting our less favored traits is equally vital. These traits, which we might suppress or struggle with, are integral parts of who we are. True fulfillment comes from integrating every aspect of our being into a harmonious whole. As Romans 8:28 suggests, every part of us is woven into the Creator’s plan, contributing to the manifestation of divine glory.

By fully accepting ourselves, we not only enhance our self-awareness but also cultivate compassion and understanding towards others. This comprehensive self-acceptance makes us more effective team members and leaders, as it allows us to appreciate the diversity and individuality of others. Even our trials and weaknesses are essential, enriching our individuality and reminding us that, despite and because of our complexities, we all possess exceptional value.
