Section 4: Legacy Building (ACTIVITY)
Purpose requires vision and vision requires goals, priorities, sound decisions, companions and sound choices. Each of us arrives in this world with the potential to manifest our true selves and achieve our purposes, contingent on how committed we are to these foundational elements. Fulfilling our purpose requires dedication and discipline. Goals act as measurable tasks on the journey to purpose, prioritization helps to organize and navigate goals, while sound, responsible decisions are a reflection of a principled life which also supports sound choices. Yet, arguably most important of them all are the companions that are with you on your journey to fulfilling purpose.
Being the salt of the earth comes with responsibilities as well as wisdom when choosing friends, romantic partners, business partners and teammates. These individuals should complement and believe in your vision. Anyone who detracts or distracts from the vision should not have a position of precedence in your life. Look at the lives of any figure that would have accomplished anything of significance - they would have prioritized their purpose above all. Consider the lives of influential figures like Nelson Mandela, Marie Curie, and Martin Luther King Jr., who exemplify the essence of prioritizing purpose over personal comfort or safety. Each of these historical figures demonstrated how prioritizing one’s purpose, often at great personal cost, can lead to profound impacts on society and history.
Although purpose is personal, the interconnected and corporate nature of God’s purpose for all of creation means that fulfillment of purpose often requires teamwork and sound leadership. Knowing who you are and confidently prioritizing the vision that you are called to is essential to fulfilling your purpose. Knowing who you are also means that you know what your weaknesses and strengths are, and how and when you need to rely on others to see a vision into fruition.
God did not design you to play all the parts, instead he designed you to play your role well. Even Jesus had a team in his disciples & followers who played a significant role in one part of his eternal mission and purpose which was the establishment of the ecclesia. His disciples & followers, namely Peter and Paul, were essential for this eternal purpose and walking into legacy. When your vision is being fulfilled after the transition from life to death then legacy is activated.
Legacy, requires vision carriers and vision carriers are the product of a well communicated vision carried on by an able and ready team. Eternal purpose requires more than just you, therefore it is essential to understand that in the journey to unleashing and revealing purpose you must also learn how to recognize those who are called to the vision, assemble a team and lead others well. The ultimate vision is to build a legacy for life!
